FAQ
Who makes your candles?
All our candles are handmade in small batches in Cham, Switzerland using traditional hand-pouring and hand-dipping techniques.
How long do beeswax candles burn?
Beeswax burns slower and longer than paraffin or soy wax, making it excellent value despite the higher upfront cost. As a general guide, our 24cm taper candles burn for approximately 4-5 hours. Burn times will vary depending on conditions such as drafts and wick trimming.
Do beeswax candles have a scent?
Yes naturally! Pure beeswax has a subtle, warm honey scent when burned. This comes entirely from the wax itself. We never add artificial fragrances, dyes or synthetic additives of any kind.
Why do beeswax candles cost more than regular candles?
Beeswax is one of nature's most labour-intensive materials. Bees must consume around 8kg of honey to produce just 1kg of wax. On top of that, our candles are handmade in small batches in Switzerland using traditional techniques, and we source only 100% pure beeswax directly from Swiss and European beekeepers.
Do you offer wholesale?
Yes! If you'd like to stock Little Haus candles in your shop or venue, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch at littlehaus.home@gmail.com to discuss wholesale options.
Are your candles environmentally friendly?
Yes! By choosing Swiss beeswax, you are directly supporting local beekeepers and helping to sustain bee populations in Switzerland. Our candles contribute to the livelihoods of these hardworking individuals while promoting the conservation of local pollinators.
And unlike synthetic waxes, beeswax is fully biodegradable, meaning it won’t linger in landfills for decades after use.
Where does the beeswax come from?
The golden yellow beeswax is sourced directly from Swiss beekeepers. The white beeswax has been bleached using a UV process and is sourced from European beekeepers. Both are 100% beeswax and chemical free.
How should I care for my beeswax candles?
Trim wick to 1 cm before each use. For even burning, place your candle in a straight position on a fireproof surface away from drafts. If a rim begins to form, cut it off carefully with a knife when the candle is cold or fold in the top edges while the wax is warm. If the flame is too weak, pour excess wax out. If the flame is too vigorous, trim the wick when the candle is cold.
Bloom is a white film that naturally appears on beeswax over time. This does not effect the candle in any way and can be gently wiped off with a soft cloth.
Always take care when burning candles, do not leave them unattended!
What is bloom on a beeswax candle?
Bloom is a natural, white powdery film that can appear on the surface of beeswax candles over time. It happens as lighter components of the wax migrate to the surface and is completely harmless. In fact, many people consider it a sign of genuinely pure beeswax. It has no effect on how the candle burns and can easily be buffed away with a soft cloth if you prefer.
How will my candles be sent?
We ship using Swiss Post. Items will be shipped 1-2 days from the date of order and you will receive a notification when your order is on it's way to you.
Can I return a product?
